Buccaneers WR Ranked With Top Free Agents In 2025

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be parting ways with a familiar face. Chris Godwin, a cornerstone of the team since being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, will be a free agent this offseason.

In a recent ranking by CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco, Chris Godwin landed at No. 12 among the NFL’s top free agents.

“Chris Godwin was on a tear to open the 2024 season with 50 catches in seven games before breaking his left ankle. He is expected to be back for the 2025 season. He is a tactical route runner who plays his best football from the slot. When he moved outside in 2023, he wasn’t as good. He is 29.”

Godwin was outranked by just 11 free agents, including:
• Osa Odighizuwa
• Zack Baun
• Jevon Holland
• D.J. Reed
• Drew Dalman
• Milton Williams
• Ronnie Stanley
• Trey Smith
• Josh Sweat
• Tee Higgins
• Sam Darnold

Chris Godwin is one of the most underrated and underappreciated wide receivers in the league. While there’s national media buzz about where Godwin will land for the 2025 season, the Buccaneers front office will most likely figure out a way to keep Godwin’s services. He is after all one of if not the league’s best WR2. Look for an extension in the near future that keeps Godwin in the pewter and red.
