Buccaneers Lavonte David Ranked Among Top Free Agents In 2025

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their fourth consecutive division title and fifth straight playoff berth last season, thanks in part to the contributions of 13-year veteran linebacker Lavonte David. This offseason, David will now potentially explore new opportunities as he enters free agency.

David’s impressive career accolades include a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and two Second-Team All-Pro nods. In his most recent season, he compiled 122 tackles (76 solo), with nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

As Lavonte David weighs his NFL future, CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco has identified him as one of the top free agents this offseason. David ranks No. 62 on Prisco’s list of the top 100 NFL free agents.

“There is a chance this 35-year-old could retire, but he can still play if he decides to do so,” Via Prisco . “He led the Bucs with 122 tackles last season and had 5.5 sacks. He doesn’t run like he used to, so his coverage wasn’t as good as in years past. If he does retire, his Canton case will begin.”

While David has hinted at the possibility of retirement, he’s also expressed his ongoing enthusiasm for the game. The prospect of a Buccaneers defense without him is difficult to envision.

The BR Rub

While there’s no way to know if David will decide to play another season we do know he still has the ability to play at a high level. And the fact that David is reportedly still having fun playing the game we expect him to be back with the Buccaneers in 2025.
