Buccaneers Tristan Wirfs Spills on Tom Brady’s Personality Off the Field

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers concluded their second post-Tom Brady season with a 10-7 record, following Brady’s retirement ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Baker Mayfield has proven to be a capable replacement for Tom Brady, delivering his second consecutive career-best season. Mayfield’s success is partly due to the protection afforded by a robust offensive line, anchored by standout tackle Tristan Wirfs, who previously blocked for Brady during the first three years of Wirfs’ career.

As a rookie, Tristan Wirfs faced the daunting task of blocking for the legendary Tom Brady, but he also had the unique privilege of sharing the field with the NFL’s all-time greatest player.

In a recent appearance on “The Pivot” podcast, Wirfs offered a glimpse into Brady’s personality behind the scenes, providing insight into what made the iconic quarterback tick.

“It was great,” Wirfs said with his signature smile. “My one goal coming in was, don’t let him yell at you. Don’t make him mad. And he never did. I’ll say this, he never yelled at me directly, he did yell at us as an o-line. I was like, ‘That doesn’t count.’ But, no, Tom was awesome. I love him to death.”

As a rookie, Tristan Wirfs was part of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl-winning team, starting at right tackle alongside Tom Brady. Since then, he has transitioned to left tackle, where he now expertly protects Baker Mayfield’s blind side.

Wirfs has been blessed with the opportunity to block for two distinct leaders: the legendary Tom Brady and the charismatic Baker Mayfield. Throughout his promising young career, Wirfs has experienced the privilege of playing.
