Buccaneers Offseason Moves Set Stage for Deep Playoff Run

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht made it a top priority for the second straight offseason to re-sign key veteran players who are crucial to the team’s continued success in Tampa.

Licht stuck to a familiar script, re-signing veteran wide receiver Chris Godwin and linebacker Lavonte David. This move mirrors last offseason’s strategy of prioritizing retaining players. And the Buccaneers did just that in retaining David, wide receiver Mike Evans, and quarterback Baker Mayfield. This strategy maintained continuity and stability within the team.

The Buccaneers also made a significant splash in free agency, inking veteran pass rusher Haason Reddick to a one-year deal. By doing so, Jason Licht and the front office are betting that Reddick will be motivated to earn another lucrative contract, bringing a disruptive presence to the team’s front seven in the process.

With the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers in different stages of rebuilding, the Buccaneers’ decision to retain key veteran players has created a significant gap in the NFC South. Ultimately, the success of the 2025 season will be measured by how far Tampa Bay can advance in the playoffs.
