Buccaneers fans we’re into the drolls of the NFL offseason, so that means milking every last ounce of content you can out of any NFL news.
And no event was bigger than the draft, so we’re still talking about it!
This time it’s all about the Buccaneers division rivals and their drafts, how we think they did, etc.
I’ll just stick with an overall grade because I’m not trying to make this too complicated, so without any more of my blabbering, here we go.
Saints: B
I really like Devin Neal out of Kansas as a long term AK replacement, especially as a day 3 pick.
The Tyler Shough pick still freaks me out, especially coming in the 2nd round, but otherwise it’s a fine draft.
Kelvin Banks was a solid 1st rounder, and their attempts at infusing their defense with some youth in the rest of the draft was valuable and logical.
Just don’t know if I would’ve taken Shough as your potential starting QB, especially in R2.
Panthers: A-
T-Mac as Bryce Young’s WR1 should be a blast to watch.
He’s a massive physical presence who can get open and immediately give themselves a potentially sneaky explosive offense.
Also a big fan of their bolstering of their front 7 with Nic Scourton, who will line up as a versatile defensive lineman, as well as Princely Umanmielen out of Ole Miss, who’s a bit more of a traditional pass rusher.
They needed a WR1 and to boost their defense, but the Etienne pick wasn’t my favorite with such an already crowded running back room for a team with so many other needs.
The rest of their picks were solid, especially Cam Jackson out of UF and Latham Ransam the safety from OSU, who will hopefully give their struggling defense more options.
Falcons: C-
If they hadn’t given up a 1st to trade back up into the late 1st this would’ve been an OK draft, but that was so stupid I can’t justify it even if I do really like Jalon Walker and James Pearce, Jr., the 2 pass rushers they selected in that 1st round.
Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman, Jr. (safeties, ND and OU respectively) were good but not mind-blowing.
Their IDL could’ve really used some attention, same with ILB, although Walker’s true position might be up in the air still as a ILB/edge tweener.
I love double dipping on edge but not so much on safeties, especially as their secondary is one of the strong points of their roster.
