Buccaneers Reddick Reports and No They Shouldn’t Sign Jaire Alexander

0

So a lot of people thought the Buccaneers signing of Haason Reddick was going to be a repeat of the Randy Gregory signing. The signs were there in some respects. A player coming off a bad year where his effort was questioned and he didn’t go to voluntary minicamp.

The only difference is that the team wasn’t concerned about it. Gregory practically went MIA after signing here. Reddick just didn’t show up. Which, it showed be noted, is perfectly within his rights. It just seemed like a bad look coming off the year he did. But he will be at camp. Whether or not he regains his former form will be determined, but he will be there.

“That’s Gonna Be A No Dawg”

One guy that will almost certainly not be there is Jaire Alexander. Now, Alexander is a really good CB. All teams could use that. But there’s a problem with him. He’s a BMW. A great product, but constantly in the shop getting massive repairs. And the comparison doesn’t end there. It is valued too high considering its unreliability. From what I’ve seen, this came down to Jaire not agreeing to a restructure. Green Bay wanted him to take a pay cut because he is almost never on the field. He refused. Again, he is allowed to do that, but I would argue that is a signal he values himself too high. The Bucs biggest problem right now with their secondary is health if last year is anything to go off. To bring in Jaire would be like trying to douse a fire by pouring gasoline on it.

So this just happened and I figured I should talk about it. Germaine Pratt was just released by the Bengals. Interesting choice for a defense that couldn’t stop a summer breeze, but it’s not like he was an amazing player for them. He was top ten in the league for tackles, but wasn’t amazing anywhere else. Pratt had a horrid pass coverage grade by PFF and allowed an over 103 passer rating when targeting. Now, because the defense was so bad for Cincy, it’s entirely possible he looked significantly worse because of bad scheming. I wouldn’t mind bringing him in for some depth. There are certainly worse options. We saw them last season.
