Buccaneers Throwback Uniforms to Make Second Appearance vs NFC South Rival

The Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers share a common thread in their histories. Both teams debuted in 1976 as expansion franchises, kicking off their journeys in the NFL. In their inaugural season, the Seahawks edged the Buccaneers 13-10 in Tampa. Although both teams struggled that year, with the Bucs winless at 0-14 and Seattle finishing 2-12, it marked the beginning of two distinct franchises that would forge their own paths.

Five decades after their inaugural meeting, the Seahawks and Bucs will revisit their past. The Bucs recently announced they’ll wear their new white throwback uniforms when they face the Seahawks on October 5, recreating the “Expansion Bowl” from 1976.

The Buccaneers recently debuted their white throwback uniforms. This was a nod to their 50th season in 2025. The team showcased the new design in a video featuring narration from legendary quarterback Steve Spurrier, alongside appearances by franchise icons like Ronde Barber, Mike Alstott, Simeon Rice, and Derrick Brooks, alongside current players.

The Bucs will wear throwback jerseys in multiple games for the first time since 2009. They’ll debut the white throwbacks in Week 3 against the Jets at home, and later don their classic creamsicle uniforms for a Week 15 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
