The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have suffered another setback, losing defensive back J.J. Roberts to a season-ending knee injury, marking the second time this training camp they’ve lost a promising rookie defender.
Roberts, an undrafted free agent from Marshall, sustained the injury during a special teams drill in Thursday’s joint practice session with the Steelers in Pittsburgh. He was reportedly set to compete for a backup role in the secondary, having impressed coaches with his versatility playing both safety and nickel cornerback positions.
