The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to re-sign rookie quarterback Connor Bazelak to their practice squad after waiving him. Bazelak, an undrafted free agent from Bowling Green, showed promise in preseason games, and the team intends to keep him as a developmental project.

“Assuming he clears waivers, Bucs are expecting to sign rookie quarterback Connor Bazelak back to their practice squad today. Went 32-of-46 for 261 yards and a TD in preseason, drew praise Tuesday from Todd Bowles: “Connor did very well.””
This move makes sense, given the Buccaneers’ need for depth and development at the quarterback position, especially with Baker Mayfield’s primary backup role filled by veteran Teddy Bridgewater
