Buccaneers Emeka Egbuka’s Debut Features Rare Feat

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka made a memorable debut in Tampa’s 23-20 win over the Falcons. He caught four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his skills early on.

The highlight of his performance came when he caught the game-winning touchdown with just 59 seconds left in the game. This impressive feat made him only the second player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to score a game-winning touchdown catch in the last minute of regulation or overtime in their first career game.

The rarity of this achievement underscores Egbuka’s significant contribution to the Buccaneers’ victory. Ernest Wilford, a former Jaguars receiver, was the only other player to accomplish this feat. Wilford caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Byron Leftwich with no time left, securing a 13-10 win for the Jaguars over the Bills. Egbuka’s game-winning catch will undoubtedly be remembered as a thrilling moment in his young NFL career. With this debut, Egbuka has set a high standard for himself as a Buccaneers receiver.
