Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced in his Friday news conference that three key players are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is dealing with a right biceps injury, left tackle Tristan Wirfs is nursing a knee issue, and receiver Chris Godwin is working through an ankle problem. Despite these setbacks, all three players are trending in the right direction, according to Bowles.

“Bowles says Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs will both be listed as questionable for Sunday vs. Eagles, as will QB Baker Mayfield, but all trending in the right direction.”
Here’s a breakdown of each player’s status.
- Baker Mayfield (Right Biceps): Mayfield has been limited in practice this week but is expected to play on Sunday. He has been wearing a compression sleeve on his throwing arm during practice.
- Tristan Wirfs (Knee): Wirfs has been out with a knee injury that required offseason surgery and has yet to play this season. His return would be a significant boost to the Buccaneers’ offense.
- Chris Godwin (Ankle): Godwin has been working back from a season-ending ankle injury suffered in Week 7 of the 2024 season. His return, alongside Mayfield and Wirfs, could provide a much-needed spark for the Buccaneers.
- Mayfield has been a limited participant in practice throughout the week.
“[H]e threw it early in the week,” Bowles stated, via Scott Smith of the team’s website. “He didn’t throw a lot, but he threw it. But he threw the ball more today.”
The Buccaneers full injury report will be released later on Friday.
