Captain’s Table – Walk the Plank: Buccaneers Top Cardinals 20-17

0

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers held on to beat the lowly Cardinals 20-17 to improve to 7-5 on the season.

That can only mean it’s time for Carter Brantley’s weekly article “Captain’s Table – Walk the Plank”. Enjoy!

Captain’s Table:

Riley Dixon!

He had some absolutely booming, field-flipping boots that made a huge difference in a tight game. The Bucs had a great defensive performance for sure, but they were buoyed by Dixon pinning the Cards inside their own 20 a few times. While the punter isn’t typically the player of the game, Dixon is up there.

Baker Mayfield!

It’s been a tough few weeks for the Bucs, and Baker’s been banged up this past week. Wasn’t sure he could play, thoughts of resting him against an inferior opponent? Hogwash. Baker came out and did his thing, and looked damn good doing it. Shoutout to him.

SirVocea Dennis!

Look, he wasn’t perfect today. A lot of mistakes, lots of tough missed coverages, etc. But he came through when it mattered. The big pass breakup was what sealed the victory, so while he can be a bit of a scapegoat sometimes you also have to give credit where it’s due. He came through big time.

Chris Godwin!

There may or may not have been a dropped TD pass in there, but Godwin looked more and more like himself today. The Baker-Godwin connection was huge last season, and the hope is that they can rekindle that romance now that Godwin is healthy.

Bucky Irving!

Ah, Bucky’s back. All is right with the world. It wasn’t the best rushing performance ever, but there’s no doubt he provided a much-needed spark for the team, especially the offense. The crowd got into it and everyone was excited to see him back on the field, Bucky especially.

Simeon Rice!

The legend! He was inducted into the Ring of Honor Sunday at halftime, and it was a wonderful celebration of one of the most underrated parts of a historic defense. Everyone knows Barber, Lynch, Brooks, Sapp, etc. but Rice was also a dominant force on the edge.

Walk the Plank:

No one!

Call it holiday spirit, but the Buccaneers fought hard and played a pretty overall well balanced game Sunday. Let’s take a week off from hate.
