Buccaneers’ JPP Set to Make Return Against Carolina

Jason Pierre-Paul, a familiar face and Super Bowl champion, is set to make his 2025 debut. He’ll do so for Buccaneers in Sunday’s crucial NFC South matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The 36-year-old linebacker, who hasn’t played an NFL game since 2023, was elevated from the practice squad and is expected to bring some much-needed juice to the Bucs’ pass rush.

The former All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher is ready to go.

Pierre-Paul, the 36-year-old Super Bowl champ, is back with the Buccaneers, joining the practice squad in early December. He’s looking to bring some much-needed firepower to the Bucs’ pass rush, especially with their crucial NFC South matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers are neck and neck at the top of the NFC South, both sitting at 7-7. The winner of Sunday’s game will take a major step towards securing the division title and a potential playoff spot. And the drama doesn’t end there – they’ll face off again in Week 18.

Pierre-Paul, 36, is looking to prove he’s got more to give despite being away from football for nearly two full seasons. He’s confident in his abilities, tweeting in September that he’s in “the best shape of my life, physically, mentally”, and the Buccaneers seem to agree, promoting him from the practice squad for Sunday’s big game against the Panthers.

The Buccaneers are banking on Pierre-Paul’s experience, promoting him to the active roster as they look to make a push in the NFC South.

The BR Rub

Look for Pierre-Paul to be on a snap-count. But his presence alone will help the Pewter Pirates’ pass rush.
