How the Buccaneers Can Beat the Dolphins

0

If the Buccaneers can’t beat a Dolphins team starting Quinn Ewers, it’s over. Like, I have said that, but that would fully be the last straw. If the Bucs win and the Panthers lose, that gives them back control (although still setting up a showdown for the NFC South). However, if the Bucs lose and the Panthers win, that is curtains for the Bucs’ post-season. This game needs to be treated like a playoff game. The team can’t just say that. They actually need to play like it.

For the defense, the biggest factor is Devon Achane. They need to limit his impact on the game because he is by far their best weapon. Fantasy managers will hate that (except for me as I started Derrick Henry), but the Bucs have to do it. Despite the hellish wasteland that has been the Dolphins’ season, he has been pretty solid. He leads the league in yard per carry at 5.8 and has 8 rushing tds. He also has 459 receiving yards. That is a problem for the Bucs because their LBs… aren’t great. Hopefully the d-line actually shows up and JPP has his revenge game or something.

So, this goes back to what I looked at when I was scouting. Well, sort of. I was scouting Jahdae Barron, but still had to go through some Texas offensive film. And what I saw of him didn’t impress me. In particular, his pocket presence was particularly bad. Like, he was blind levels of bad. Therefore, if the Bucs can get to him, it should be pretty bad for him. Unless he learned quite a bit of pocket presence under Tua. Something tells me that probably isn’t true.

For the Bucs offense, I just don’t even know anymore. It’s hard to write about what the offensive gameplan should be considering they have no identity. What I can say is they should absolutely throw out the playbook they used in Carolina. Because it was just awful. I know I said they should run the ball, but not like that. With that said, I think they should lean more on Rachaad. He’s just seeing the holes better and has been outplaying him for most the season. For some inexplicable reason, the guy who had a shoulder injury that sidelined him for a while is being treated like Derrick Henry. Said guy is also short and small, so it really isn’t beneficial. Also maybe use some of those WRs we have. They’re pretty good.

Even now, despite all the shit the Bucs have gone through and how badly they have played, I still think they are better than the Dolphins. They just need to play like it. That’s what it comes down to. Playing as if they are the more talented team. Because they are, even now.
