The 2026 NFL offseason is here and that means it’s time for mock drafts, draft profiles and everything that goes with them. So without further ado, here’s one of many Draft Profiles for the 2025 NFL draft.
Harold Perkins Jr., LB, LSU
HT: 6’1
WT: 222 lbs
Accolades:
- First-Team All-SEC (2022)
- Second-team All-SEC (2023)
- Third-team All-SEC (2025)
Video:
Pros:
- Elite speed, explosiveness, and agility for a linebacker
- Rare pursuit range and closing speed
- Can easily carry slot/inline receivers going vertical up the middle
- Elite blitzer with bend in his pass rushes
- Instinctive play recognition and fluid hips in coverage
- Relentless motor and plays with edge
- Versatile and can line up anywhere from edge rusher to safety
Cons:
- Lower weight makes deconstructing blocks more challenging
- Lacks strength to stop NFL ball carriers without yards after contact
- Torn ACL in 2024 raises injury concerns
- Struggles with man coverage and gets exposed in space
- Not a traditional linebacker, making his fit in the NFL uncertain
Summary:
“Perkins is the modern linebacker – built for speed and versatility, not traditional size and power. His speed at LB is rare, making D-coordinators drool. When he chases down RBs or closes on receivers, it’s unteachable. That burst and range make him perfect for hybrid defenses that value flexibility over traditional roles.
