The 2026 NFL offseason is here and that means it’s time for mock drafts, draft profiles and everything that goes with them. So without further ado, here’s one of many Draft Profiles for the 2025 NFL draft.
Arvell Reese, LB/EDGE, Ohio State
HT: 6’4
WT: 244 lbs
Accolades:
- CFP national champion (2024)
- Consensus All-American (2025)
- Big Ten Linebacker of the Year (2025)
- First-team All-Big Ten (2025)
Video:
Pros:
- Legitimate sideline-to-sideline speed with a closing burst that catches ball carriers off guard
- Elite run defender who diagnoses plays at lightning speed and strikes with authority • Tackles with precision, evident in his four missed tackles in 2025
- Power at the point of attack is legit, can jolt 300-pound linemen backward
- True positional versatility – lines up off-ball, threatens A-gaps, rushes off the edge
- Pass rush upside is real, shows explosive first step and long arms create problems for tackles
- High-end production in 2025 against top competition, tape against Michigan speaks volumes
Cons:
- Coverage skills are unproven, struggles with depth on play-action and loses routes at times
- Short-area quickness can be a liability against quicker tight ends or backs
- Aggressive downhill style leaves vulnerabilities, bites on play fakes and opens cutback lanes
- Pass rush plan lacks layers, defaults to power when initial move fails
- Pass rush relies on athleticism rather than instincts or technique
- Limited sample size as a starter, raises questions about consistency and durability
Summary:
Reese possesses the physical tools, production and mentality to become a three-down linebacker at the next level. His rare athleticism, sharp run instincts and non-stop motor are assets. However, he needs refinement in coverage and development as a pass rusher before he’s trusted in those roles full-time. What he brings to the table is instinctive run defense and play-finishability. Deploy him correctly – linebacker first, occasional rush duties – and you get an impact player with Pro Bowl upside as his game catches up to his physical gifts.
