ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Buccaneers will not tender restricted free agent safety Christian Izien, he now becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Fowler adds that Tampa Bay remains interested in re-signing Izien even as he hits the open market. Because the lowest restricted free agent tag is $3.52 million, any new deal with the Buccaneers would probably be for less than that amount.
Izien joined the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent from Rutgers after the 2023 draft. He landed a three-year, $2.075 million contract running through 2025, with a $915,000 base salary for 2024. During the 2025 season, Izien played 14 games for Tampa Bay, posting 25 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble.
Izien’s Career Stats
| Total tackles | 140 |
|---|---|
| Interceptions | 3 |
| Pass deflections | 5 |
