The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected defensive end Rueben Bain with the No. 15 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Contract details start to become more clear.
Bain is looking at a four-year deal worth $22,785,000. The contract should carry an average annual value of $5,696,250. His signing bonus total is roughly $13,030,910.
The 21-year-old enters the NFL after three productive seasons at Miami. He made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2023. Bain recorded 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
His 2024 season was limited by a soft tissue injury suffered in the opener. The injury caused him to miss four games and impacted production.
Bain rebounded in 2025 with one of the most productive seasons among defensive ends. He played 16 games and totaled 54 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one interception.
All-American Buccaneer
His performance earned major national recognition. Bain was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He also earned Consensus All-American honors and won the Ted Hendricks Award.
Bain played a key role in Miami’s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship. Miami lost 27-21 to Indiana. Bain finished with eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in that game.
As a recruit, Bain was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He ranked No. 57 overall nationally. He was also the No. 8 defensive lineman and a top-15 player in Florida.
NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein praised Bain’s projection as a pro. He graded him as the No. 7 overall prospect.
Zierlein described Bain as a high-floor starter with strong play strength. He noted Bain’s heavy hands, physicality, and ability to anchor. He also highlighted his pass rush ability and bull rush power.
“His playoff run showed an ability to generate quick wins if tackles are passive in setting to him. He can rush off the edge or mismatch guards as a sub-package rusher. Bain’s explosive power and toughness should translate, giving him a high floor as an NFL starter.”
Bain falling to the Buccaneers at 15th is a blessing for a team that desperately needs a pass rush.
