A recent trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggests another opportunity. He believes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could send linebacker SirVocea Dennis to the New York Jets. In return, Tampa Bay would receive a Day 3 selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.
If that offer became available, the Buccaneers should seriously consider accepting it.
Dennis May No Longer Fit Tampa Bay’s Plans
Dennis finally stayed healthy during the 2025 season. He started 16 games and posted 101 tackles. He also recorded 10 tackles for loss and three sacks.
However, his biggest weakness remained pass coverage. Opposing offenses frequently targeted him, creating problems for Tampa Bay’s defense.
Those coverage concerns make it difficult to view Dennis as a long-term starter.
The Buccaneers Already Rebuilt the Position
The front office made its intentions clear after Lavonte David retired.
Tampa Bay signed veterans Alex Anzalone and Christian Rozeboom during free agency. The team then selected Josiah Trotter in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Those additions completely reshaped the linebacker room. They also pushed Dennis further down the team’s long-term plans.
Moton believes the Jets could view Dennis differently.
The veteran analyst suggested New York could pair Dennis with Jamien Sherwood while preparing for life after Demario Davis. Dennis still offers upside, especially after proving he can stay healthy for an entire season.
Selling at the Right Time Makes Sense
Dennis still has value around the league. A team needing linebacker help could gamble on his athleticism and production.
For Tampa Bay, turning a player without a clear future into another draft selection would be smart business.
Day 3 picks don’t always become stars. However, Jason Licht has consistently found contributors outside the early rounds.
If another team believes Dennis can develop into a reliable starter, the Buccaneers should take advantage of that opportunity.
Summary
Trading SirVocea Dennis wouldn’t be about giving up on his talent. It would be about recognizing the Buccaneers have already moved in another direction. If Tampa Bay can turn a surplus linebacker into a future draft pick, Jason Licht should make the call before Dennis’ value declines further.
