The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a handful of injury-related roster moves on Tuesday as training camp continued. While none of the transactions were unexpected, they could impact the team’s depth heading into the preseason.
Buccaneers Waive Undrafted Rookie
According to the NFL transaction wire, the Buccaneers waived undrafted rookie safety Ja’Qurious Conley with an injury designation. The move puts Conley through the waiver process before determining his next step.
If Conley clears waivers, he will revert to the team’s injured reserve list. Once he recovers from his injury, the Buccaneers will likely release him with an injury settlement.
Two Defenders Land on Active/PUP List
Tampa Bay also placed defensive back Chase Lucas and defensive tackle Haggai Chisom Ndubuisi on the active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Players on the active/PUP list continue counting against the club’s 90-man roster. They can return to practice at any time after passing a physical.
However, if either player remains on the list through final roster cuts, they must miss the first four games of the regular season.
Summary
These moves are common during training camp as teams manage injuries and evaluate their rosters. The Buccaneers will hope Lucas and Ndubuisi return quickly, while Conley’s future with the organization now depends on the waiver process and his recovery.
