Browning Suffers Injury Against Jets
Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Browning suffered a back injury during Tuesday’s joint practice with New York. He was not seen at Wednesday’s practice, creating uncertainty about his availability for Friday night.
Buccaneers Will Turn to Young Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield is not expected to play against the Jets, leaving Browning in line for the starting role. That plan could now change because of his injury.
Connor Bazelak and Jalon Daniels are also competing for preseason opportunities. Both quarterbacks will see increased work if Browning cannot play.
Browning’s Injury Creates Another Question
Browning entered camp with an opportunity to establish himself as Tampa Bay’s top backup quarterback. His experience gives him an advantage over Bazelak and Daniels.
However, missing Friday’s game would cost Browning valuable preseason reps. The Buccaneers will now have to monitor his back closely before deciding whether he can suit up against the Jets.
