Josiah Trotter Could Strengthen Starting Case
Second-round linebacker Josiah Trotter should receive plenty of work against the Jets.
The rookie could use those opportunities to increase his chances of starting. More snaps should give Trotter a chance to make his case.
Ted Hurst Can Make Some Noise
Third-round receiver Ted Hurst is currently expected to serve as a depth receiver.
That should give Hurst a strong opportunity during the preseason. With more chances to make plays, he can make some noise against the Jets.
Keionte Scott’s Position Will Be Worth Watching
Fourth-round rookie Keionte Scott has shown plenty of versatility during training camp.
Scott has played nickel, outside cornerback and safety. All eyes will be on where the rookie lines up against the Jets.
DeMonte Capehart Can Define His Role
Rookie Defensive Tackle DeMonte Capehart is entering a crowded position room.
The preseason should give Capehart an opportunity to develop and define a role for himself. His work against the Jets could be important for his development.
Billy Schrauth Should Get Plenty of Work
Rookie Guard Billy Schrauth should have a big opportunity against the Jets.
The Buccaneers should overload him with snaps on both the left and right sides. That would give the team an extended look at Schrauth at both guard spots.
Bauer Sharp Is Worth Watching
Rookie Tight End Bauer Sharp has a great opportunity to prove what he can do as a blocker.
He might not have been a high draft pick, but the Buccaneers did trade up to get him. Sharp iis definitely worth watching closely.
The preseason opener should give Sharp his first opportunity to show what he can do as a blocker and receiver.
