The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could finally get their first preseason look in 2026 at Benjamin Morrison on Friday.
Head coach Todd Bowles said Morrison looked good enough in practice to potentially play. However, the Buccaneers have not made a final decision on his status.
“He looked okay in practice. We’re going to talk about the guys who are going to play tonight, so it will be interesting to see,” Bowles said. “I’d like to see him out there and [see him] get some snaps in because he hasn’t played all preseason, but we’ll see.”
Morrison Could Get Valuable Reps
Morrison has yet to appear in a preseason game this year. Friday’s finale could give him a chance to get live reps before Week 1.
Even a limited workload could help Morrison shake off some rust. It would also give him an opportunity to experience game action before the regular season begins.
Cornerback Competition Continues
There is also plenty happening behind Morrison at cornerback. Ayden Garnes and Damarion Williams have taken advantage of their preseason opportunities.
That adds another layer to the competition in Tampa Bay’s secondary. The Buccaneers do not need to force Morrison into extended action Friday.
Still, a few snaps could benefit Morrison after missing the first three preseason games. Getting back into a game setting could help prepare him for the regular season.
