The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made another important move involving their running back room.
Tampa Bay has agreed to a new one-year contract with Sean Tucker, keeping the running back with the organization. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was first to report the agreement.
Via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler,
“RB Sean Tucker agreed to a one-year, $2.5M guaranteed contract to remain with the Bucs, per source, along with incentives. Was due $3.52M on a restricted tender, and now he returns on a new one-year deal.”
The new contract gives Tucker $2.5 million guaranteed, with incentives also included. That represents a different arrangement from the $3.52 million he was previously due under his restricted tender.
Rather than moving forward under that tender, Tucker and the Buccaneers have agreed to a new one-year contract. The deal keeps him in Tampa Bay and gives the team additional continuity in its running back room.
Tucker will have a defined role heading into the season. He is expected to enter the year as the Buccaneers’ RB3 behind Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell.
That puts Irving and Gainwell ahead of Tucker on Tampa Bay’s running back depth chart. Tucker will now look to make the most of his opportunity within that group.
For the Buccaneers, the agreement provides clarity at another position before the regular season arrives. Tucker will remain with Tampa Bay under a new contract after previously being set to play on the restricted tender.
The one-year agreement also gives Tucker another opportunity to remain with the Buccaneers. His new deal includes guaranteed money and incentives, providing a clear path forward for both sides.
