The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached the 53-man roster limit. Now, the team is continuing to build out its practice squad.
Tampa Bay is bringing back a veteran defensive back after releasing him during the final roster cuts. The Buccaneers are signing safety Ifeatu Melifonwu to their practice squad, according to Fox Sports’ Greg Auman.
Melifonwu Returns to Tampa Bay
Melifonwu was among Tampa Bay’s final cuts as the team trimmed its roster to 53 players. He will now remain with the organization as part of the practice squad.
Fox Sports Greg Auman reported that the move could provide Tampa Bay with an option for additional depth early in the season.
“Bucs are signing veteran safety Ifeatu Melifonwu to their practice squad after he was among their final cuts. A potential elevation for depth early in the season.”
Melifonfu’s return gives the Buccaneers another experienced option in the secondary. The team can potentially turn to him if additional depth is needed early in the season.
