The Bucs Offense Needs To Start Faster.

”We’ve turned into this team that looks like gangbusters in the fourth quarter, but does not look like gangbusters in the first quarter. It’s a four-quarter game. We’ve got to start faster. That’s something as a coaching staff we’ve got to get figured out.” said Coach Koetter.

Yardage doesn’t seem to be the issue, considering, they’ve surpassed 400 yards of total offense three games in a row, beating the 2012 record. They’re averaging 9.2 points in the fourth quarter, which is 3rd in the NFL, but only 23.6 points per game, ranking them at 13.

Why the late start? According to Ali Marpet, it started in practice, “I don’t think we were practicing like a Super Bowl-caliber team,” Marpet said Monday. “It’s not good enough. It’s always preparation. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday is what it comes down to.” Regarding Sundays game.

So how does the Bucs remedy this issue? According to Kendell Beckwith, echoing Marpet’s comment,  “It starts in practice, from the walk through, to the practice, then transferring everything onto the field,” he said.

Seems like practice may very well be the key to the effectiveness of the Bucs offense. I am looking forward to Sundays game against Buffalo, I am hoping to see the Bucs gain some momentum early on, and carry that through for a win!
