It’s has now been confirmed by Ian Rapoport that DC Mike Smith has been fired after an abysmal defensive start. With one of the worst defenses in the league, the Smith led defense was allowing 34 points a game on average.

On Sunday’s game versus the Falcons, the defense gave up multiple 3rd and long situations early. Which has been a staple of Smith’s game plan breakdown.

The report also suggests that LB coach Mark Duffner will be the acting defensive coordinator for the remainder of the season.
