It’s been long three years for Arrelious Benn, who has not seen any regular season play since 2012. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers second round pick is once again finding himself close to being on a team roster.
Last year, he would have likely found a place on the Jacksonville Jaguars roster, but instead found himself on the injury reserve with a broken collar bone. Benn was in the midst of an impressive training camp when he suffered the injury that ultimately ended his season. Benn’s attempt at career revival is heading into a similar direction, as he is again performing well in camp, and if he stays healthy, he may just find himself on the Jaguar depth chart.
The Jaguars take on the Buccaneers, Saturday and have held joint practices with each other over the past two days. The meeting between these two teams consisted of multiple reunions, but one that stuck out to me, is the reunion of Benn and his former teammates, George Johnson, Lavonte David, Doug Martin, Gerald McCoy, Keith Tandy, Vincent Jackson, Demar Dotson, and Luke Stocker. Those are the only guys left on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster from the time when Benn last played for the team.
