Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dirk Koetter is a Lame Duck

0

For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 2018 Season may already be a lost cause. They will have to start with their “franchise” QB on a three-game suspension. While they made some changes on defense, they did not make enough to their secondary to prevent teams from airing it out. The team also added some pieces on offense in Ryan Jensen and Ronald Jones. However, with all of these changes, it does not make them a playoff team. It also does not help that your head coach, Dirk Koetter, is a lame duck.

Dirk Koetter is coaching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his last season. Why do I say this? Well, ever since Koetter was hired I have said it was a mistake. The firing of Lovie Smith was a mistake as well. There was a plan in place for Smith to complete and the Glazers or Jason Licht never let that plan come to fruition.

They went through all of the hoop jumping to necessary. However, in the end, everyone knew that Koetter was going to be the hire. The team did not want to lose Dirk Koetter in fear of Jameis Winston taking a step back.

Meanwhile, Jameis has not improved under Koetter as a head coach. In 2016, Winston’s best season as a pro, he threw for 4,090 yards, 28 TDs, and 18 INTs. All while completing 61% of his passes. Then in 2017, Winston took a step back. I know there was an injury involved. However, even before the injury, Winston was not on his game.

Playing in the NFC, let alone the NFC South makes this a die. The three other teams in that division are much better than the Bucs. 2018 is, in fact, a playoff or die season. Unfortunately, I do not see the Bucs making the playoffs this season. Making Dirk Koetter a lame duck in 2018.
