Bucs Lack of Depth at DB is Beginning to Show

The 4th game of the season is over and it wasn’t even close. Bears QB Mitch Trubisky took advantage of the Bucs lack of depth at DB by throwing for over 300 yards with 6 TD passes. The final score was heartbreaking, Bears 48 – Bucs 10. This is the second week in a row the Bucs DBs have been torched, with Ben Roethlisberger picking them apart last Sunday.
The Bears, just like the Steelers, came out in 3, 4, and 5 receiver sets to take advantage of the Bucs extremely thin defensive backfield, exploiting the Bucs lack of depth at DB. Rookie DBs, Carlton Davis and MJ Stewart, looked completely lost and Brent Grimes is showing his age, sometimes giving receivers over a 5 yard cushion. This is a huge cause for concern and is the fault of GM Jason Licht who chose to go into the season with an extremely young defensive backfield.
Licht chose not to draft a Corner in the first round and passed up on veterans, such as S Eric Reid. He must find a solution to this problem, If not the Bucs will continued to get burned by opposing offenses this season.
