AAF: Why San Antonio Commanders Will Be Better Test for Orlando Apollos

0

The Orlando Apollos started hot opening week against the Atlanta Hotshots, but the Apollos will have to have short memories when they face San Antonio Commanders on Sunday.

Week 2 is more likely to produce more polished play than the opening week as teams build more cohesiveness. The Apollos showed they can score on both sides of the ball. Despite dropping 40 on the Hotshots, the Commanders showed they can be just as dangerous in the air as on the ground. While it didn’t translate to more points against the San Diego Fleet, the Commanders have more net yards than the Apollos.

Apollos QB Garrett Gilbert had the cleaner game, but don’t count Logan Woodside out. He can easily be as dangerous in the air. Both ground games are about equal, but the Apollos’ Akeem Hunt is the clear leader in their backfield at 73 yards.

While both are capable to turn the ball over, it’s the Commanders who’s had better luck getting to the quarterback doubling up on sacks with six over the Apollos pass rush. The game will likely be closer to lower scoring affair of the Commanders and Fleet than the Apollos and Hotshots. Calling it Apollos 24 Commanders 22.
