The Top Team In The AAF
At the halfway mark in the league’s inaugural season, the Orlando Apollos stand as the lone undefeated team at 5-0. Their week 6 matchup vs the Birmingham Iron (3-2) was supposed to be the Apollos stifist matchup, but it was anything but.

Apollos QB Garrett Gilbert put together another outstanding game last week in Alabama. Going off for 286 yards and 2 TD’s with zero INT’s. Orlando’s running game picked up where it left off in Salt Lake City, as RB De’Veon Smith had a 119 yards rushing, and a team total of 182 yards rushing.

Hotshots Look To Get Back On Track
The Arizona Hotshots (2-3) have had quite an up and down season. Their loss last week to the San Antonio Commanders stamped that fact. As the defense gave up 29 points to San Antonio.
Even though there are frustrations on defense, QB John Wolford and the offense have the ability to rack up points. If the Hotshots are to pull back into .500 territory, Wolford must connect with WR Rashad Russ in order to have hopes to overcome the Apollos pass defense.
Apollos Look To Go 6-0
This week 6 matchup, is sure to be another good test against a team that has the ability to be streaky. The Hotshots 4 point lost to the Commanders last week stung for sure, and there would be no better way to show the rest of the league the resilience you have than to unseat the Apollos.
Naturally the Apollos are heavy favorites to win this game at home on Saturday evening. The Las Vegas betting line has Orlando as -9.5 point favorites. With the over/under at 43.5. Typically it would be a flag for the home team to be favored so heavily, but the Apollos have found different ways to close out games each week. And this week is no different, as HC Steve Spurrier should find another way to keep his team undefeated.
For the Iron this game will confirm where they ranking among the league’s best teams. While for the Apollos, this game is to further establish themselves as the top dog and the team to beat come April.
You can watch today’s matchup on live on the NFL Network at 8pm EST Saturday.
