Buccaneers Select Devin White

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made their selection in round one of the 2019 NFL draft. Devin White, the linebacker from LSU, has been selected to replace Kwon Alexander.

This wasn’t a surprise to most as the Bucs have been clear about their interest in Devin White for quite some time now. The pick was controversial, taking an inside linebacker at five is questionable to say the least. Todd Bowles has his fingerprints all over this one.

The Bucs had a clear need at middle linebacker, but could they have had him after a trade back just a few spots? Did they even receive offers for the fifth overall pick? Jason Licht has notoriously ignored the defensive line for years now. Last year, Licht drafted Vita Vea, but will it be enough? For me, the problem isn’t the player, it’s the position. I hope Devin White turns into a perennial All Pro. Whether or not you liked the pick, Devin White is now a Buc.

Round Two Strategy

The Bucs need to address the defensive line early in day two. With quite a few big name guys off the board in round one, the Bucs should look to add some talent to the defensive line.

A couple players they could be looking at in round two? Chase Winovich, Charles Omenihu, Zach Allen. Of that group, Winovich is my personal favorite. The Bucs could also opt to fill the need at offensive line. A couple names to keep an eye on? Dru Samia, Jawaan Taylor or Cody Ford.

Buckle up Bucs fans, the draft is just getting started.
