Buccaneers: Putting 7-3 Record into Perspective

For all the doom and gloom following the second loss against the New Orleans Saints, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bounced back convincingly doubling up against the Carolina Panthers 46-23 on November 15. They’re now prepping for their another prime time game of the 2020 season against the 6-3 Los Angeles Rams. Everyone is well aware of their struggles in prime time suffering all but one of their losses this season. With six games to go, the current no. 5 seed in the NFC still has a chance to win the division. Let’s break it down the season so far, shall we?

Bucs’ Superstitious Streak

At the team’s current rate, the Bucs look like they could match their Super Bowl win total at 12-4. Why is that? The team has been consistent losing one, then winning the next three twice in a row. In theory, they should win against the Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs before losing against the Minnesota Vikings. Obviously, nothing is written in stone and it largely depends on how the offensive line protects quarterback Tom Brady and if the defense can contain the opposing offense. So far in the 2020 season, aside from the penalty-laden game against the Chicago Bears, they only struggled mightily against the New Orleans Saints.

Why Bucs Need To Handle Their Business

Whether it’s Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston starting for the injured Drew Brees, Bucs fans are hoping whoever starts fails and Tampa Bay can make up ground. None of it matters if the Bucs can’t beat the contenders in front of them. Before the 38-3 soul-crushing defeat against the Saints, there were probably plenty looking ahead ready to crown Brady for his seventh championship. Keep in mind, the Bucs will still struggle and the defense is far from a sure thing. Have patience, the more time Antonio Brown is in this offense, the better he’ll be. Same thing for Ronald Jones if he can start repeating what he did in Carolina. Beat the contenders so you won’t be a pretender. It’s still too early from talking about any magic number.
