We learned earlier Saturday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play the New England Patriots without the services of tight end Rob Gronkowski. Now ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting Gronkowski’s injury is more severe than original reports.
Bucs’ TE Rob Gronkowski suffered multiple fractured ribs last Sunday that threaten to sideline him for multiple weeks, sources tell ESPN.
Initial X-rays were clean but follow up MRIs were not. “We held out hope all week he’d be ready,” said one source. “He’s a different breed.”

After leaving the game against the Los Angeles Rams, he later returned. The initial X-rays were negative. Further MRI tests revealed Gronkowski has multiple rib fractures. The injury could keep him out multiple weeks.
