PFF Ranks Buccaneers’ David & White Top-10 LB Duo

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have arguably one of the best linebacker tandems in the league. The guys over at Pro Football Focus (PFF) tend to agree.

The latest PFF linebacker group rankings are out, and the dup of Lavonte David and Devin White are ranked in the top-10 coming in at the No. 7 position. Let’s see what PFF’s own Seth Galina had to say about White and David,

“This is a case of one elite linebacker pulling along another whose narrative hasn’t really matched his production. Lavonte David has been one of the best linebackers in the league for almost a decade, whereas teammate Devin White has not graded above the 51.9 mark he attained as a rookie. David also just put forth his worst season since 2016, posting a 72.3 grade. That’s still a very good grade, but there should be concerns about his age and a potential decline going forward.”

Although he has displayed signs of improvement in that area, White’s inconsistent coverage has lowered his PFF grade during his brief NFL career. David has been among the best linebackers in the NFL since he started playing in 2012, and even though an injury hindered him last year, he still surpassed most other linebackers.

While White is still a burgeoning star who should continue to get better as he heads into his prime, David is still one of the NFL’s most complete defenders, even if he is vastly overlooked.
