Buccaneers’ Barrett Talks Facing Mahomes & Revamped Chiefs O-Line

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday night at Raymond James Stadium. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Bucs 31-9 Super Bowl LV victory in 2021.

During that game, the Buccaneers’ defense dominated the Chiefs’ offensive line. Forcing two turnovers and three sacks while harassing quarterback Patrick Mahomes consistently. The following offseason the Chiefs rebuilt their offensive line expressly because of what the Bucs’ defense did to them.

Buccaneers’ edge rusher Shaq Barrett doesn’t seem impressed with the revamped Chiefs line

“I really don’t think it’s too much of a difference. I think we have a lot of favorable matchups.” Barrett continued. “I think we really have an opportunity to really dominate the game. I just think, yeah, we’ve got an opportunity to really impose our will as pass-rushers, edge rushers in this game. We can really have like a coming-out party. I know we had six sacks the other game, but we can really have a coming-out party as edge defenders in the position group for this game.”

Recently Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with the media and was asked about Barrett’s comments.

“I trust those five guys that we have out there,” he said. “I feel like we have one of the best offensive lines in the league — and we’ll go in there with that mindset.”
