ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, “Tom Brady Is Done After This Season”

Another day, another hot take about the Buccaneers from a media talking head. This time it’s ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

On Monday’s episode of “First Take” Stephen A. and his guests Dan Orlovsky and Michael Irvin opined about the state of the Buccaneers, with an obvious focus on quarterback Tom Brady. Orlovsky took the easy path of running out of the back of the endzone while saying the Bucs are “finished”. Meanwhile Smith and Irvin went with the “not yet” angle. Then Smith added, “Tom Brady is done after this season.”

Smith justified this take on Brady by saying Brady should hang it up and go collect that $375 million dollar check as a broadcaster. It’s not odd that Smith would suggest going for the money, It’s just the type of guy he is. But Brady is cut from a different cloth and isn’t hurting for money. Maybe Smith got ahold of some of Irvin’s booger sugar, or maybe he just doesn’t understand anything except money. I’d hope it was the latter.

Smith is at ESPN to move the needle, to get ratings that lead to more money. Brady plays football for the love of the game and the camaraderie of his teammates.
