Now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an offensive coordinator we can all turn our attention to who will be the team’s quarterback on opening day.
We’ll start of the quarterback speculation with this from ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
“From my conversations with the organization, they do feel like Kyle Trask is likely to be the guy under center. I feel pretty confident that they’re going that direction.”
“I think [Jason Licht] believes Kyle Trask has what it takes to be a winner in this league. And he looks around the division and he says, well, we’ve got the best quarterback in the division at the very least. So, I’m not saying that means much, but I think that he at least thinks they can be competitive with Kyle Trask.”

Some of these reports need to be taken with a grain of salt, Darlington’s isn’t one of them. He is extremely connected and seldom puts out a report that doesn’t materialize.
Buccaneers’ Brass Chimes In
Buccaneers’ former head coach Bruce Arians seems to feel the same way as Darlington does. Arians was recently on The Rich Eisen Show where he said this about Trask
“I think we’re in good hands with Kyle Trask,” Arians told Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show. “I love Kyle, he’s been there two years now, saw Tom work … Blaine Gabbert was a great mentor for him.”
Trask is entering his third season in the NFL, but has very little playing experience at this level. If the Buccaneers do chose to ride with Trask, it’s most likely because of the salary cap restraints. Then again, look what Dave Canales did with Geno Smith…
