The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have invested significant draft capital and an enormous amount of money in their defensiveline. The question is, is the squeeze worth the juice?
Pro Football Focus has recently dropped their defensive line rankings from Zoltan Buday. And he wasn’t kind to the Pewter Pirates ranking them 25th in the league.
Buday’s take on the Buccaneers’ defensive line,
“The top two players on the Bucs’ defensive line, interior defender Vita Vea and edge defender Shaquil Barrett, are both coming off the lowest-graded season of their careers, and both struggled with injuries throughout the campaign.”
“As a result, the Bucs desperately need Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Logan Hall to step up, as both have failed to make an impression so far in their young careers.”
Buday makes some points here, but fails to disclose that Shaq Barrett only played half a season. This points to a lower grade as Buday failed to state. This analysis also fails to mention the drafting of Calijah Kancey and the signing of Greg Gaines.
Buday is correct in stating Logan Hall and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka desperately need to step-up for this line to flourish. But a 25th ranking seems a little harsh.
