Shortly after the Buccaneers 25-11 loss at the hands the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Baker Mayfield spoke with the media about the game.
“We screwed ourselves,” Mayfield stated.
“We’re damn good when we do our jobs. We just have to be better on offense as a whole. I’ve got to be better, taking advantage of different outlets,” Mayfield continued. “They’re a great defensive front, so anytime we’d have an advantage in some of the pass options in the run game, we just need to take those and move down the road. We’ve just got to play better as a whole.”
The Buccaneers offense was one of the team’s strength heading into the Monday matchup with the Eagles. Averaging roughly 350 yards per game and no turnovers the offense looked solid. Then the Eagles and their front seven came to town. The pressure applied by Philadelphia’s defense seemed to overwhelm the Buccaneers offensive line. This obviously contributed to not only some errant passes and stuffed run plays, and ultimately the team’s first turnovers of the year.
Mayfield and the Buccaneers get a chance to change course this Sunday in New Orleans.
