Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield was leveled late in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. During an attempted two point conversion, Mayfield scrambled to avoid the rush and was hit hard by Saints defensive back Tyrann Mathieu. Mayfield was noticeably wincing after the play.

Good news from Mayfield during the postgame press conferences where Mayfield stated his X-rays came back negative for fractures.

Mayfield via ESPN,

“Ribs don’t feel too great right now,” Mayfield stated. “But we’ll do some more exams to see what’s really bugging me, but don’t have anything right now so it’s just sore.”

Mayfield continued,

“It was one of those late scramble plays that, last second, throwing the ball to Chris obviously, they’re gonna take hits, it’s a physical team. They played that way today. They hit us right in the mouth from the get-go.”

Mayfield finished the game but to no avail as the Buccaneers lost to the Saints 23-13.
