Baker Mayfield “Excited” the Buccaneers Hired Liam Coen

The reports of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finalizing a contract with former Los Angeles Rams and Kentucky Wildcats assistant Liam Coen to be their Offensive Coordinator broke early Friday.

The reports came from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

Per Garafolo,

“The Buccaneers are working on a deal to hire Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet. After bouncing between the #Rams and Kentucky the last six years, Coen likely heads to Tampa for a possible reunion with pending free agent Baker Mayfield.”

Now that the Buccaneers know who their Offensive Coordinator will be what does pending free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield feel about it? Will this hire sway him one way or the other?

NFL reporter for JoeBucsFan.com Rock Riley was able to ask Mayfield this during Friday’s Pro Bowl festivities.

The Buccaneers have a slew of pending free agents to address this offseason. This list includes, Antoine Winfield Jr, Lavonte David, Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield, and more. Time will tell, but this hire of Coen looks to at least be enough to keep Mayfield interested.
