In December of 2002, my wife and I, went on a much needed, well-deserved vacation. We traveled to Florida where we attended Raymond James Stadium, to watch our beloved Super Bowl Buccaneers take on Michael Vick and his high-flying Atlanta Falcons. Michael Vick had just come off an explosive performance against the Vikings in which he put 173 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. That was not all as he went 11 for 28 and put 173 yards in the air resulting in one touchdown. After that performance, a smug Michael Vick announced that his game at Tampa would be his best performance as a pro. The Buccaneers shut his mouth and again limited his output by shutting him down. Vick has made some strides since their prior engagement, but still staggered in his achievements, throwing for only 125 yards, and one touchdown.Vick was sacked once and picked off once in a 34-7 walloping by the Buccaneers. Vick’s high flying Falcons were grounded that game. The Buccaneers allowed Michael Vick to rush for 9 yards on 6 attempts which are distinctly better than the 1 yard he gained in their first meeting.

“Mr. McCardell pulled into the parking lot driving a bright yellow Hummer. I happened to be the first person there to greet him with a handshake.”

That following Monday, we headed over to the Lee Roy Selmon’s restaurant. Mr. Selmon’s menu is comprised of his Mother’s, fantastic Southern-style, recipes.
What a wonderful experience! The food and the atmosphere were truly indicative of Lee Roy Selmon and his family. After a lovely dinner, we made way to the exit when we were approached by the staff and informed that if we stuck around for an hour or two, Wide Reciever Keenan McCardell would be arriving to do a radio broadcast show. Mr. McCardell pulled into the parking lot driving a bright yellow Hummer. I happened to be the first person there to greet him with a handshake.

“During the radio show, they asked people to write a question they would like to ask McCardell, and my wife’s question was asked! Later on that evening, Keenan McCardell signed a free T-shirt we were given and a mini Buccaneers helmet!”
