Mike Glennon’s story has been and interesting one. Many fans were outraged by the treatment he received from the Buccaneers while many were in agreement. Lovie Smith opted to bench him for Josh McCown, despite reassuring Glennon, and Glennon fans that he would be the Quarterback of our future. That is until Tampa drafted Jameis Winston. But, in the wake of all that has happened in the last two seasons, Mike remained focused. He settled into his role as the backup and stayed prepared to play at any given moment. Glennon may not have shown the leadership qualities Winston has, nor has he shown the same caliber of emotion. But what Glennon lacks in those two areas he makes up for in loyalty. With his talent and his knowledge of the game, I do not think we could ask for a better backup.
“He has yet to take a single snap this season, but Bucs QB Mike Glennon said he has worked to stay focused and continue developing as a passer while serving as a backup to rookie Jameis Winston.” – “All you have to do is look around the league and see how many guys have played — I bet over half the teams have had (backup) guys go in and play, and not just for a few plays, but start and play significant time,” Glennon said Wednesday. “I’m just helping Jameis as much as I can, doing whatever I can to help this team win, that’s the mentality I’ve had. It’s fun to be a part of more of a winning team and be in it toward the end.”
