Dominique Robertson at 6 feet 5, 324 pounds is turning heads at One Buc place. But when you are that size and as athletic as he is, there really is now doubt in why he’s making waves. As an undrafted free agent offensive lineman, Robertson stood out at Tampa’s rookie minicamp, but considering that his uncle, George Warhop is the Buccaneers’ offensive line coach, people were bound to take notice anyway. Not that the young man needs to ride the coattails of his uncle’s name, that’s just a footnote to go along with his talent.
In fact, Buccaneers offensive line coach Warhop was actually surprised that Tampa could get the young lineman in the first place. “He’s talented. I think we’re very fortunate to get him as a free agent. I didn’t think he would go undrafted. Unless we had a chance to draft him, I didn’t think we would get him. He’s earned the opportunity to be here. Now he has to earn the opportunity to be on the team.”
Robertson wowed scouts at the combine with his amazing strength and superb athleticism, benching 225lbs 30 times and running the 40 in 5.36 seconds. “I like to be physical,” said Robertson, “and get my hand on them, because once I do that , it’s over for them.
Many had Robertson projected to be drafted somewhere towards the end of the draft, although that never happened, he still recieved many requests from NFL teams, to join them as an undrafted free agent. He felt Tampa was the best fit for him.
If Robertson makes the team he will add some solid depth to the offensive line and will see some playing time, especially, with his ability to play gaurd and tackle.
