Brothers Bennett

Many Bucs fan were angry at the fact the Bucs let Michael Bennett walk for nothing in return. Many of them are even angrier that he is arguably one of the best defensive players in the league.

Michael was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted rookie but was released to make room for Kyle Williams. The Bucs then claimed him off waivers in 2009. He was a nice cog for Tampa until 2012 when he wasn’t resigned by the Bucs. The rest of his history is still being written. While Michael was tearing the league apart his brother Martellus was getting a bad rap for his attitude. An always big athletic tight end with the willingness to block, but his work ethic and attitude always were a black cloud over him.

The past few seasons has been pretty good for Martellus with the Bears and Patriots. This last season, in particular, has been a nice pick up for him and the Patriots, he also would be a great addition to Tampa. With his willingness to block, coach Koetter could use his double tight formations a lot more often. He is also a receiving threat that can take some of the pressure and coverage away from Brate. Bennett will be thirty in March. A nice three or four-year contract with a team option at the end would be great for both parties. Bennett also could bring the playoff experience and that nasty grit attitude to the offense that true Buccaneer fans have been looking for since Gruden left. It would be a nice story as one Bennett brother got his first start into the NFL while the other exits with the same exact team.
