There are five games left in a season that is already over with.

It’s that time of year again. A time that Buc fans are all too familiar with. It’s the time Buc fans look back and say what the hell happened? How can a team that looked so good on paper fail so miserably?

The offense was stacked with play makers, but rarely got going. Jameis Winston and DeSean Jackson never found any chemistry, rarely connecting with the deep ball. The highly anticipated return of Doug Martin was smeared by terrible run blocking. So far, Martin has averaged just over 3 yards per carry on the year. Rookie TE OJ Howard has had his moments, but has mostly been used to block. Of course, Jameis Winston’s injured shoulder didn’t help the offense much.

The defense, that started the season looking so promising, has been obliterated by opposing offenses. Other than Gerald McCoy the defensive line generated little pass rush. The most promising pass rusher, Noah Spence, has a shoulder injury and has been out most of the year. The linebackers have been the most consistent unit on defense. Third round draft pick Kendall Beckwith has had a great rookie year so far, filling in for Kwon Alexander and Lavonte David, who have both missed time with injuries. The play of the DBs has been atrocious. Vernon Hargreaves has had trouble transitioning to the NFL and Brent Grimes is getting long in the tooth.

Yes it’s that time of year for Buc fans. The time of year we all say, “At least we’ll have another high draft pick.”
