Pete Prisco: “Winston Making Case To Be Face of the Franchise”

0

Pete Prisco, an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, firmly believes that Tampa Bay should stick with Jameis Winston in the future. In a preview of the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons, he and Brady Quinn talked about Winston and his future with the Bucs. Obviously, for Prisco, the choice to keep Winston is not a hard one to make.

He does believe, however, that the young quarterback could easily have to work with a different head coach and potentially a new general manager, as well. Here is what Prisco had to say about Jameis Winston:

“…I think he is making the case to be the face of the franchise, and I think he should be. Let’s be real: If you get rid of him, then what do you have? Nothing. Then what do you do, go to the draft? I think you bring him back for another year and whoever is the coach and whoever is the general manager—because those guys, both might be gone—and you let Jameis Winston be your quarterback….Maybe you draft one in the third or fourth round to come in and compete a little bit, but he’s your starting quarterback” (see video HERE).

Prisco is spot on with his analysis about Winston and the current situation of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Winston has shown way too much potential to get rid of him at this early stage of his career. The Bucs have found their signal caller of the future.

Moreover, he is right about the lack of opportunities if the Buccaneers indeed do decide to move on from Winston. What are the options? Joe Flacco, Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Tannehill, Brock Osweiler or maybe Mike Glennon? Does any one of those give the Bucs a better chance at a bright future than a 24-year old Jameis Winston? Certainly not….
