Apollos: Road Warriors?

0

In the late 80s there was a team in the NFL that “traveled” well

That of course was the Eddie DeBartolo owned San Francisco 49ers. At one point, the niners had more away victories than home wins.

Why do I bring up this bit of NFL history in a Orlando Apollos article?
It’s the question of how long the Apollos can produce while having to stay on the road constantly.
From training camp to weekly practices. The Apollos do not get to go home for more than a few days or sometimes hours at a time.

Now they must (because of Florida’s workers compensation laws) travel from North Florida to Georgia (to practice). Then on to Utah to play the Stallions. “In primetime ” nonetheless.

How on earth can they handle such a huge amount of travel and still prepare for the Stallions, who will have extra time to prepare with no travel time involved for them?
All I can say is the 49ers showed it can be done. It wont be easy and the odds are against them. But it’s football and you never say never.
This game either way is going to test the Ol’ Ball Coach.
If you are in the St Petersburg/Tampa area make sure you come check out our Apollos watch party at Ferg’s in St. Pete. Live shows, great food and of course football. Watch party starts at 6pm, game at 8pm.
